The King of Tenth

Atop his throne

Helm of tenth street

Curls of smoke

Wrap warped fingers round his throat

The last lingering taste of earlier days

The vices of frat boys and mad men die hard

Each drag a memory without sleep or care

Relegated to the stoops of brownstone existence

Softened by the pale pink of his socked feet
